As usual, we recommend that you back up your iPhone before installing this iOS update. The changes keep coming in iOS 16.2, which iushers in a new architecture for the Home app. Apple says the change will bring faster, more reliable performance, though we'll have to see it in action before we can see what that means for everyday use. I completely agree, it is ridiculous to have to take a black photo to get the black home screen background. I like the new choices of pics on the lock screen but for my background on the Home screen the plain old dark screen was much better & easier on the eyes at least for me. I hope they add some kind of an update in the future to add the choice of that old default screen back. Other than that though I like the update so far.

Live photos and Dynamic photos will drain your battery life quicker than Still photos. Similarly, using the Perspective display option rather than Still will also drain your battery life faster. The quality is good, and the overall experience with Cinematic mode is much better than it is on the iPhone 13. I find this gives the background a more realistic out-of-focus look while keeping the subject in focus. I also fully charged each phone, then played a downloaded video looped in Airplane mode with the screen at 50% brightness.

After nearly three months, I'm shocked that all of these phones have scratches.
