Carnival Celebration Wikipedia

We chose to take it easy, have a slice of pizza al fresco, look at the many ships in port with us today, and relax. Guests can gather here throughout the cruise to take in festive live music, stunning aerial acrobatic shows, live entertainment or to just gawk at the gorgeous confetti-like light fixtures twinkling from the ceiling. Carnival Cruise Line has managed to keep details of its newest upcoming ship mostly under wraps -- until now. I appreciate what Carnival has tried to do on this ship to make flexible dining more accessible. In addition to the main dining room, passengers who have selected the Anytime Dining plan can enjoy dinner at Cucina del Capitano or Chibang! Where they can choose dishes from the restaurant's menu or the always-available options from the main dining room menu.

Theater and Shows on Carnival Celebration

When you’re cruising on Carnival Celebration there’s just so much destination to be found… even right on board. That’s because here, in The Gateway zone, “international flavor” isn’t just an expression, but a way of life! Design, décor, cuisine and even the entertainment is inspired by grand locations, landmarks from around the world. But every moment is a special occasion thanks to onboard spots that are proud to import their flavor from all over. We’re talking restaurants and bars like Latitudes™ with its old-school railway station vibe, The Golden Jubilee™ featuring a unique mix of great drinks and live music, plus Emeril’s Bistro 1397™, which is deliciously all over the map.

It has a complete waterpark for kids and even a mini-golf course. The ship has a nice-sized main pool on the Lido deck and two aft Infinity pools. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines. We make sure cruisers are fully prepared for their cruise vacation with tips on ships and ports.Millions of travelers rely on Cruise Hive in the United States, Europe, Australia, and around the world.

Fellow Passengers

Other kids-geared fun can be found at Circle C, the space on Deck 17 designed for preteens, ages 12 to 14, and Club O2, also on Deck 17, but designed for older teens, ages 15 to 17, in mind. There’s also Camp Ocean on Deck 4, for kids ages 2 to 11; this area is also where you’ll find after-hours babysitting services offered. Lastly, the Havana staterooms and suites are, similar to the Loft 19 spaces, part of a VIP area of the ship that tries to create a more calming and exclusive atmosphere. All guests in the Havana area are 12 and up, so there are no screaming kiddos around (in case that’s not your preference).

Unfortunately, those two days were windy (especially with the ship underway) and BOLT never operated. If you know what you want to ride, then go ahead and book it for as early in the cruise as possible to make sure that you get a chance. Days in port are when you’ll find the best combination of calm weather (since the ship is stationary) and shorter lines as most people are off the ship. Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse has a specialty restaurant (located in The Gateway/ Deck 6 portside). Lagasse is the chef and owner of 11 different restaurants, including 4 in New Orleans. He is a regular guest on Good Morning America (TV show) and has hosted 2000+ shows on Food Network (US pay-TV channel).

Available on all Fun Ships is Chef's Table (VIP dining experience / 12-guest capacity) that includes multicourse dinner with ship's Master Chef, private cocktail reception and galley/kitchen tour. This dining option usually takes place in a non-traditional venue (a dedicated room in the galley) and can be booked onboard for USD 75 per person. The Gateway (midship on deck 6) houses the Latitudes Bar fitted with travel-themed chairs and menus and featuring a mechanical split-flap display board (listing the daily menu - cocktails, wines, spirits, special tastings/samplers). At Latitudes Bar are also held the Celebration Happy Hour event (with live entertainment) as well as private parties and special occasions (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc). Balcony staterooms are proof that while it’s great to be cruisey… on vacation, breeziness is a virtue too.

But the best pool in our opinion is one that sits in the exclusive Havana area. Not everyone can access this area — it’s reserved for passengers staying in Havana rooms. During our cruise, Celebration had about 5,300 passengers onboard, and this ship feels busy. And part of that isn’t just the number of people on the ship, but also the ship design. The trend in cruising seems to be having a buffet and main dining room, along with maybe 1-2 other options included in your cruise fare.

The sunning areas on the midships to aft portion of Deck 16 are among the busiest parts of the ship on nice sea days, so getting that perfect deck chair here might be a challenge. Thankfully, for guests over 18, there is the Serenity Zone with plenty of sunning and shaded seating not too far away on forward Deck 18. The Ultimate Playground on Decks 18 and 19 has all of Carnival Celebration’s top deck thrills sewn up in one convenient zone. There is a challenging ropes course and a games court for hoops but strangely not yet, pickle ball, which seems to be the new rage on many big cruise ships. There is also a running track but with all the traffic, it can be more like an obstacle course.

THE ULTIMATE PLAYGROUND

The Ultimate Playground is the name for the outdoor play area on Deck 18, which includes mini-golf, the waterpark, sport court, ropes course, and the BOLT roller coaster (which is technically Deck 19). Design/FeelLet’s start with the design and feel of Carnival Celebration. First and foremost, we felt that the design is much more contemporary than other vessels in the fleet. Frankly, we’ve always felt the design of Carnival ships was a bit more dated and wild — especially with older ships.

In a nod to Carnival’s history, cruisers will find plenty of objects onboard that have come from past ships. These include the original 1934 Rolls Royce Saloon car that sailed aboard Carnival Ecstasy until that ship was taken out of service, which now finds a home next to the entrance to the Golden Jubilee Bar. The second roller coaster at sea, Carnival Celebration’s BOLT is, of course, one of the ship’s most touted attractions. For $15, guests get a 15-second, 800-foot ride that does a loop and races around the funnel on motorcycle-style “cars” at speeds up to 40 MPH. The caveat here is to not delay if you want to try this unique thrill.

Take a little time out of vacation to sit down to a selection of tempting appetizers, before your chef prepares the main course featuring selections of meats, tofu, fish, shrimp or lobster… right at your table. In the teppanyaki tradition — and Carnival’s tradition of fun — expect an interactive, satisfying meal full of surprise and delicious delight. Emeril’s second restaurant at sea does something a little different. Then it serves up international dishes… all with Emeril’s signature culinary flair!

The Gateway's Deck 6 is home to Latitudes Bar, Emeril’s Bistro 1397 (by chef Emeril Lagasse), The Golden Jubilee (travel-themed bar lounge), Carnivale Restaurant, Carnival Kitchen, Conference Room. The Gateway has a large digital map showing the current location of all CCL ships in real-time. Cabin balconies are accessed via sliding floor-ceiling glass doors. The boat has 18 decks, of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 11 with cabins. The XL-Class is similar as design and facilities to HELIOS-Class ships produced for Carnival Corporation's brands Costa and AIDA (all by Meyer Werft in Papenburg Germany).

A sister to the popular Mardi Gras, the ships mark a push from the cruise line toward vessels that are bigger than the rest of the fleet, carry more people, and offer more to do, see, and eat onboard. Carnival has also thought about the placement of its Kids Clubs. Camp Ocean (ages 6 months to 11 years) facilities are located near the midships elevators on Deck 4, adjacent to the Family Harbor Staterooms. Clubs for the older kids – Circle C and Club O2 – are in a completely different area of the ship. The design offers additional protections for the little ones, as it is away from any bars, lounges and nightlife spaces. We’re at home anywhere we sail… but you can only have one hometown, and for Carnival that is unmistakably Miami.

So even if you can find a seat, it may be partially obstructed. We saw guests waiting in line for hours or saving the open seats on the higher levels to have a chance to see these fantastic performances. It was a very entertaining and informative class from start to finish. Knowing the different ingredients and cooking techniques that made the menu items complete was delightful. The Tabasco Chef class is located on the second floor of the prestigious Blu by Dolphinaris facility. So the location was incredible, and we enjoyed the fantastic views and watching the dolphins in the pools near the ocean.

The ship was officially delivered from Meyer Turku to CCL on November 2, 2022. The delivery ceremony was attended by Tim Meyer and Christine Duffy (CCL). A signature outdoor fun facility is the ropes course SkyCourse (length 600 ft / 183 m).
